Open Season 2 Trailer!

This is the first trailer for Open Season 2, available also on the Reel FX website. I've got a couple of shots in here but don't blink or you will miss them.

I have the shot where there are about 8 or 9 dogs circling around Mr. Weenie sniffing him. The other one is a quick shot of Mr. Weenie running away from Fifi and Rufus.

Animation test

I've started a little animation test tonight, and also posted it up on CGtalk. The bulk of what is said will probably happen on the forums, but I will post the vids here too. :)

My new home at Reel FX!

This is an extra special announcement so it needed its very own post. Soooo.... I'm finally staff at Reel FX!! Yay me! I'm so excited to finally be an official part of the team. This place is truly something special and I've got all the confidence in the world that it is only going to grow and get better as time goes on. Being a part of that process is something I am really looking forward to!

I'd also like to thank all of the guys that have helped me along to get where I am now! Ray, Ernesto, Justin, Eric, Ken, Aja, Dan, Tim, Bryan, Dave, John, Tom, Tim, and everyone else that I've worked with over this past year. Thank you for being so patient with me, and taking the time to explain things and helping me get better! I'd especially like to send a shout out to Randy Hayes, whose friendship and competition has really helped me keep pushing myself. I have a feeling that will never stop though, hehe.

Thanks again, now it has only begun!

Posts are for squares!

Just kidding, I'm more of a circle anyways... Sorry I have been so busy lately, we just ended animation on Open Season 2 a few weeks ago, and have been doing some rig tests and cycles since then. I don't know what I'm allowed to say and what I'm not, but OS2 is going to be great....greater than the first! I found a few of the new characters up on sony's website too, http://www.sonypictures.com/familyzone/ , about mid-way down you can see 3 new characters, Stanley, Roger, and Charlene. The OS2 trailer that they are boasting on that page isn't actual clips from the movie, but I believe the actual trailer is going to be released soon, not sure. Overall I did about 2 minutes animation on the movie, so when I'm finally able I'll be able to post my best work here and put together a decent demo reel :).

Something worth noting!

Heya everybody! It's been pretty dead on this blog for a while but that's definately a good sign. We've been going really heavy on Open Season 2 since December or so and it's looking like things are going to start winding down at the end of May.

Also I would like to announce my official credit for OS2 on IMBD.com. If you would like to take a look go here : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1107365/fullcredits

So far I've animated a little over 2 minutes worth of footage and it looks like I'll have about 20 more seconds to add to that before we're done animating. I've learned so much throughout the course of this movie it's not even funny. It's been really tough trying to keep up with the quota every week, but has been priceless in the way that I have learned to speed up my work, in addition to bumping up my quality of animation in that time too! I am very thankful that I've gotten a chance to push my work to the next level like this. And as soon as I'm able, I'll post a lot of it for everyone to see!

Until next time!

Update

Hey everybody! It's been a while since I've last posted, so I've got a bit of an update for you! First of all, if you haven't already heard, we have begun animation on Open Season 2. I've officially had 2 shots approved, which was such a significant milestone for me! Now I am working on 4 more and am feeling a bit more confident in my skills as I start to pump them out a little faster. I really can't emphasize how awesome it has been to work with everyone here and how much Bryan and Dave have pushed me to be a better animator. I know though I still can get so much better than I am, and I am pushing myself every day to learn something new, and to polish my technique.

Along with the priviledge of working on a movie, Ihave also had the chance to meet several new animators. It's interesting to note how different every person works!

Anyways, that pretty much sums up what we have been up to lately, and I'll post some new animatons as soon as I can! Yall come back now, 'ya hear!?
